CDHA Press conference covered extensively by news outlets across Canada |
A CDHA press conference, hosted this week (June 17) on Parliament Hill, touched on a range of important issues—from the evolving role of dental hygienists in national programs like the CDCP, to workforce sustainability, upholding safe practice standards, and the importance of evidence-based policy. The event was a huge success, generating interest from Canadian Press, CBC, the Globe and Mail, and more, resulting in a total of 42 press clippings, and we were the cover story on Oral Health Weekly this week.

Meeting with Parliamentarians |
Following the press conference, we met with several Members of Parliament from various parties and regions across Canada, including Jake Sawatzky, Anna Roberts, Jonathon Rowe, Ted Falk and Dr. Jacques Ramsay. These meetings were timely before the House of Commons adjourns for the summer.
We spoke about the dental hygiene profession in Canada, access to oral health care in rural and remote regions, the importance of preventive dental hygiene care for seniors, the impacts of caps on international students on dental hygiene programs across Canada, workplace issues for dental hygienists, trade tariffs on dental markets, and more. As always, we were a #voice4oralhealth and, above all, stated our collective commitment as a profession to advancing the oral health of Canadians. |
